Packaging and Print Technology
More than 5000 years ago, packaging (done with leaves and wood) was mainly used for transport or storage. In today’s world, the packaging does much more than just simple storage. A packaging today creates the distinction between a product and other similar products on the same shelf. The Packaging and Print Technology module offers students an in-depth study of the principles of packaging design and the design process from concepts to three-dimensional forms. Not only will students explore the key concepts of a packaging design development process, they will also learn about structural construction, technicalities, print production, packaging materials, mechanisms and the overall presentation of the packaging. They will understand how packaging design elements, choices of material and appropriate printing options can be integrated together as an effective marketing tool to influence consumers’ perception and buying decisions.
